Here are a few LGBT-specific scholarship programs that we know of. It is in no way a complete list! Please email us if you have info on others that you'd like to see added.
Out for Education (formerly PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation) offers educational scholarships exclusively to LGBTQIA youth in the Houston area. Though the program was created by combining scholarship programs once offered by PFLAG-Houston and Hatch, it is no longer affiliated with either organization.
The OutTexas Foundation encourages all Texas students who have a passion for LGBT equality to apply for scholarships, whether they are planning to attend a four-year university, community college, technical school, graduate school, or any other form of higher education.
The Point Foundation provides financial support, mentoring, leadership training and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
The LEAGUE Foundation provides financial resources for America’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender high school seniors entering their first year of institutions of higher learning. The scholarship application opens annually in January and closes in April with awards distributed in the summer of each year.
The Gamma Mu Foundation awards undergraduate and advance degree scholarships to gay men as well as grants to organizations meeting special needs in LGBT subpopulations such as youths, seniors, and victims of domestic violence.
The Empress Emeritus Mona littleMore Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students who volunteer their time to promote and/or support the Texas LGBT Community and excel in academics with a 3.0 GPA or higher, participate in extra curricular activities and are a positive role model within their community.
